Building and maintenance of the first transcontinental railroad networks took hundreds of Latvians from Europe to China and the Far East. Today, a new generation of networks, and, most importantly, a new philosophy of interconnectivity, drives a flow of financial, digital and human capital across the continent and beyond. Via the New Silk Road programme, we at the Latvian Institute of International Affairs aim at conceptualizing the integration along Eurasian infrastructural and civilizational highways. We welcome cooperation and synergy between academia, businesses, government bodies, NGOs and the general public, as we strive for a better understanding of global and regional interconnectivity.
